Deanna Dorta is a licensed professional counselor and an accomplished life coach. She is a Senior Therapist for Dallas Whole Life Counseling, recognized and respected
for her broad life experience and calm, centered approach to her therapy and coaching work. A referral therapist for the Anderson Cooper show, Deanna's counsel and expert opinion are regularly sought out by local and national media.
As an undergraduate, Deanna attended North Texas University, where she earned a B.A in advertising and design, with a minor in psychology. As a graduate student, Deanna attended Amberton University, where she earned her M.A. in professional counseling. Deanna is fully licensed by the state of Texas to counsel in private practice.
Deanna utilizes CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) and other structured, goal-oriented approaches to therapy and coaching. In her work with couples, Deanna confidently addresses issues surrounding communication, sex, gender roles and other common relationship roadblocks.
Deanna treats a wide array of issues. Among her areas of specialty: anger management, communication barriers, social anxiety and O.C.D. issues. She uses an integrative approach, emphasizing psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy methods. Deanna has been happily married for over twenty years, and is raising two teenage sons. She frequently travels to Brazil, speaks some Portuguese, and enjoys bike riding, cooking, painting, and spending time with her family (which includes two very spoiled Yorkshire Terriers). As an animal lover, Deana has found that some clients find it comforting to have their dog with them in session. Deanna is a dog friendly therapist, and invites her clients to bring their canine companion to session.
